We are pleased to thank all those who attended our 5th Annual Cultural Awareness Workshop (CAW) on February 18, 2014. Also, special thanks to our lovely morning moderator Catherine Mitchell (Winnipeg Free Press) and engaging media panelists: Ms. Eleanor Coopsammy (CTV News), Ms. Renee Batson (University of Winnipeg Radio), Maurice Alexander (Politician), and Mr. Ismaila Alfa (CBC Radio).
It was an enjoyable event and many were enlightened and inspired. We will be posting the individual and organizational stragtegies to improve the portrayl of visible minorities and First Nations People in the media that our Cultural Awareness Worshop participants and panelists had come with shortly. The Congress is proud to share that on January 13, 2014 (in the United States), devote Congress member, Dorothy Barret's deceased son Lindon Barret's (1961-2008- Past Professor of English and African American Studies at the University of California) book: Racial Blackness and the Discontinuity of Modernity was finally published! The book is a "a stunning dealineation of the root of racial blackness" (University of Illinois Press).
