Our History

  • Past Presidents (in alphabetical order): Val Fraser,  Lisa Hackett, Rachael Holder, Daphne Howard, Kathleen Huggins, June James, Beryl Jones and Joan Lloyd.
  • Workshop on Racism:On November 13, 2007, the Congress of Black Women organized a workshop to openly discuss the issue of racism in our communities. The goal of the event was to document Winnipeggers’ experience with racism and to generate concrete policy recommendations on how to confront it.  Download Full Report
  • First Black Women's Art and Cultural Festival, Manitoba'sEbony Expressions (MEE), Winnipeg Winter Club. May , 2009.
  • Ist Annual Cultural Awareness Workshop (CAW), Viscount Gort, Feb 23,2010- Marking Black History Month.
  • Leutenant Governor's reception in honor of or 30th year anniversary http://lg.gov.mb.ca/activities/speeches/2011/april/black.html  .
  • 13th  Annual Cultural Unity Dinner and Dance (CUDD), Canad Inn Fort Garry,Nov 09, 2011. 
  • Kwanzaa: Annual celebration of African Heritage each December for many years, last held in 2011 at the Caribbean Cultural Centre, 1100 Fife. 
  • Strategic planning session- 2008. Most recent strategic planning session held- July 7, 2012.
